The first of six St. Louis premieres this HotCity season! Seen through the eyes of ten-year-old Isaac, Demons (and Other Blunt Objects) tells the lyrical story of Isaac and his parents, Adam and Mary Mann—he’s a Vietnam vet, she’s a war protester who survived Kent State. Their unlikely love overcomes war, violence, and demons real and imagined, until Adam’s battle-time experiences catch up with him. These tragic turns teach Isaac hard lessons that lead to an unflinching conclusion. A scorching yet beautiful new work from a young local Washington University playwright, Demons (and Other Blunt Objects) uses our collective cultural memory to address the effects of today’s global tensions on our everyday lives.
